A family affair

Maeve Barry came up with the idea for Baby Elephant after the birth of her first child in 2007. She wanted to offer gifts for new mum and baby that were a little bit special – practical and pampering, organic and luxurious. Giving friends and family a way to spoil the new mum, a welcome change from teddies, flowers or chocolate.

Maeve’s husband, Cillian, then became involved in Baby Elephant after the birth of their second child. Among other things he blinged up the family car with Baby Elephant branding (pink on brown, a little bit of a shock but certainly gets it noticed) and shares their business experience (success and failures) through a monthly article in the Sunday Business Post. Sustainable Gifting

As well as spoiling new mums and babies their aim is to be as environmentally friendly as possible so all products and packaging is eco friendly and locally sourced.

Much of Maeve’s time is spent looking for new suppliers who are passionate about what they do and committed to creating quality products in an environmentally sustainable way. She tries to find one new product each month to keep you coming back for more.
